The African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) has conducted its 17th Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Annual General Meeting (AGM), Executive Committee Meeting, at Windhoek and Swakopmund, Namibia, from 7-16 March 2018. The Executive Committee Meeting, which brings together the Executive Committees of the Association, commenced on the 7th March 2019 at Avani Hotel, Windhoek.
It deliberates on the preparation for the subsequent AGA and AGM meetings and in order to toughen the Association and its Secretariat’s capabilities approved the hiring of a new Executive Secretary. It has also revised the Association’s budget plan and reports.
One of the biggest events in the ARMFA calendar has been the annual meeting, which is called the Annual General Assembly (AGM), this year it is conducted at the coastal town of Swakopmund, Namibia, from 11-12 March 2019. The Republic of Namibia Work and Transport Minister, Hon. John Mutorwa, officially opened the Meeting followed by keynote address by Hon. Calle Schlettwein MP, Minister of Finance, Republic of Namibia. The meeting was officially commenced after a minute of silence was observed on the unfortunate Ethiopian airlines crash that took the lives of 157 people from more than thirty states.
AGM is an important venue to showcase ARMFA’s performance for its wide spectrum of strategic partners. It also creates the opportunity for partner agencies and MNCs to meet the road fund directors and CEOs from thirty-four African states. This years AGM was held under the theme of ‘Sustainable Road Infrastructure: Impact on Regional Integration and Free Trade Area’.
